The weekends in Downtown Cape are always full of activity, but this weekend is one for the families (especially the kiddos)! Enjoy the summer with them and take a look at some of the incredible family-fun events going on this weekend in #DowntownCG .
Tunes @ Twilight
Starting the weekend off Friday the 14th, Jessie Ritter will be performing at Ivers Square for one of our last shows of the Spring Series. This free event starts at 7 pm and is an amazing way for the whole family to get together and enjoy some great fun and music. The fountain is always a hit with the kids, and everyone can have a good time dancing (and maybe even singing) along to the music. Main Street Station will also be on-site selling hamburgers and hotdogs. Take advantage of these summer nights, grab your family, your lawn chairs, and a picnic basket, and come see us at Tunes!
Marketeers Day at the Cape Riverfront Market
The kids are taking over the Cape Riverfront Market this Saturday the 15th for our Marketeers Day. Cape Riverfront Market hosts this event from 8 am – 12 pm as a dedication to all of the kids at the farmers’ market. Your little Marketeers can participate in four different activities that can earn them tokens (each worth $1.00) that they can use to buy fresh fruits and veggies from our amazing local vendors! These activities include fun-fact face painting, a market-wide scavenger hunt, produce-themed rock painting, and making their very own ice cream cone planters. The cherry on top of it all? Our Cape Riverfront Market mascot, Rooty the Carrot, will be there for the first time to take pictures with all of the Marketeers. You don’t want to miss this one!
Summer Arts Festival 2019
Here’s another one for the whole family! Each year, SEMO’s River Campus (home to theatre, dance, and the arts) hosts a Summer Arts Festival to celebrate our students and art in our community, and it looks like 2019 will be one to remember. This full-day festival starts at 10 am and goes until 5 pm Saturday the 15th. There will be countless demonstrations and hands-on activities open to people of all ages to help our community celebrate the arts in every form, and to get the kids excited and more involved in the arts. Activities include live performances, theatrical shows, petting zoos, magic shows, food, and some creative workshops (just to name a few). You can view the whole line-up by following this link to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun! https://1mxixh1xnqe1d55pkpkf9i1b-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/RiverCampus2019SummerArtsFestivalEventLineup-June3.pdf
