Join the Fun at Old Town Cape!

Hey, pal! Question time.

Are you passionate about #DowntownCG and want to see it continue to thrive? Or maybe you know nothing about it and want to learn more?

Are you looking for ways to grow in your knowledge and experience in marketing, event planning, and everything in between?

Are you interested in learning all about the non-profit sector and the work that goes into making our community a better place?

Whether or not you answered “yes” to any or all of these questions, we think you should consider Old Town Cape’s internship program for Fall 2019!

If you just so happened to come across this blog and know nothing about our organization, here are a few facts to help us get acquainted with one another:

  1. Old Town Cape, Inc., founded in 1999 (Cheers to 20 Years!), is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is revitalizing Downtown Cape Girardeau.
  2. OTC is a nationally accredited Main Street Program under Main Street America, a national movement that believes in preservation-based economic development and community revitalization.
  3. The Old Town Cape district includes 131 blocks with over 300 businesses and organizations, as well as 4,500 residents.
  4. Our team is small but mighty, and we work in many different ways to spearhead the effort in making Downtown Cape a better place to live, work, and play!

Through our internship program, you will have the opportunity to learn all about our organization as well as our national and local partners through hands-on experiences that will help you grow in your skills and in your professional network.

“Okay, you’ve gotten my attention,” you say, “but what exactly are you looking for?” Good question! See, you’re so smart. You’ll do very well here.

We’re looking for somebody who is organized, while still being flexible; responsible, while still knowing how to have fun; and a self-starter, while still knowing how to take direction.

As an OTC intern, you will be charged with aiding our team (specifically the Marketing and Events Coordinators) with furthering our mission to making downtown a place people want to be. You’ll be tasked with helping at events (including the Cape Riverfront Market and holiday events), writing blogs, posting on social media, assisting with website maintenance, and more!
