Old Town Cape, Inc. currently has a 15-member Board of Directors, and we believe it’s time you meet them! Get to know Bill Cole below.
Tell us a bit about yourself (job, family, hobbies, etc.)
My wife Susan and I are the broker/owners of Realty Executives Edge, and both of our adult children work with us. Our son, Chris Cole, is our designated broker and in-house counsel. Our daughter, Katie Palisch, is our director of marketing. Chris is also a partner in our ownership of Lorimont Commercial Real Estate. Chris’s wife, Jessica, is also an agent with Realty Executives. I’m not one for hobbies but enjoy traveling when I’m able to and spending as much time with family as possible.
What is your current role on the OTC Board and how long you have served?
I am currently the treasurer and serve on the executive committee for Old Town Cape. I’ve been a member for 4 years.
Why did you choose to join the OTC Board?
Being in the real estate industry, I know how important a vibrant downtown is to the overall success of any community. In addition to experience in both residential and commercial real estate, I felt like my accounting and business management background could make me an asset on the board.
What special perspective/qualities do you believe you bring to the Board?
I go back to real estate. I love the historic buildings and want to see as many of them saved as possible. Imagine if the Marquette Hotel or H & H building (and any number of other structures) had be razed! It’s rewarding to see structures re-purposed and rehabilitated.
What do you love most about Downtown Cape?
I think what I love the most is how far our downtown has come over the past ten years. Restaurants, shops, churches, historic courthouse (and soon be be city hall), Ivers Square, and community events are just some of the things that make a visit to our downtown enjoyable for me.
Where is your favorite place to go when you’re downtown?
The real estate business is a tough business to schedule. As a result Susan and I eat out often and the restaurants located in the Old Town district are high on our list.
What’s your favorite Old Town Cape event?
There are many but I enjoy the Hutson Auction every time I go. Susan thinks I get a bit out of hand bidding on items (or winning as I say), but it is our biggest fundraiser and helps us fund many of the things Old Town Cape does.
