Tell us a little about yourself! Or how would you describe yourself?
Gosh this is always hard to do, but here goes. I love God, my family, my friends, our community and also my sweet dog and cats. Sometimes people refer to me as Granola Jess because I love playing in the woods, hiking, and being a good steward of the earth. I find joy in giving my time and resources to others. I also really love expressing my creativity through photography, design and fun projects.
What’s your idea of happiness?
Investing my time on this earth honoring God while spending time with those I love doing the things that bring us joy.
How are you connected to Downtown Cape Girardeau?
I volunteer for Old Town Cape, and enjoy shopping, eating and supporting as many downtown businesses and events as I can. I don’t remember a summer without Tunes at Twilight – one of my favorite downtown events.
What do you love about our community?
I love downtown Cape because everyone you encounter feels like a neighbor or friend. I go downtown to be a part of a community, to listen to music, look at art, eat great food, drink exceptional coffee, pick up fresh veggies, to peruse the shops and even to exercise. What more could you ask for?!
What would you like to see added or improved downtown?
I think having a rooftop restaurant would be amazing. Being outdoors and enjoying the view of the river while sharing a meal with friends and family sounds pretty wonderful.
There have been so many wonderful improvements over the years I’ve lived in Cape, but I think more landscaping downtown would be a nice addition too.
What’s your motto?
Nothing. What’s a motto with you. Haha.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Besides Downtown Cape, where’s your favorite place to be?
On a trail in the woods.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I have a goal to visit every National Park in the U.S.
Check out some of Jessica’s favorite downtown businesses!
